I Arise Today

Today I rise through more than momentum, I rise through memory.


I arise today

through the strength of the heavens,

light of the sun,

splendor of fire,

clarity of ice,

speed of the wind,

depth of the snow,

stability of the earth,

firmness of the rock.

Light has returned.


This was the Yule blessing our family entered into the world on the Solstice, chosen by our eldest son in great care.


It’s about sitting in the elements, remembering what has always been available to us, when we slow down enough to appreciate it.


The heavens and their blanket of stars remind me to think beyond the short sight of immediacy. The sun reminds me to show up as I am, unapologetically warm and radiant. Fire teaches transformation without shame or squandering oneself. Ice teaches clarity without cruelty even in the face of utter cold. Wind teaches adaptability and lightheartedness. Snow teaches stillness and how to remain soft. Earth teaches patience and progress over perfection. The Rock teaches us endurance, resilience, and the grace of staying.


When I listen closely, to the sound of my own beating heart, I realize none of these forces are outside of me. They live in breath, posture, intention, and action.


This season, whichever you may be moving through, is not asking you to harden. It’s asking you to anchor. To move forward not by burning out, but by standing rooted in what sustains you!


If you’re feeling tired, unsteady, or uncertain, this isn’t a sign you’re failing. It’s a sign you’re being invited back into alignment with the elements that have carried humanity forward since the beginning.


Let the light return, first within you.

Everything else will follow from your flow.
