I Would Illuminate

I would illuminate the core of a million dim stars.
Raise the moon to its highest point in the sky.
Light the wings of a single solitary dancing firefly.
Whatever light awake the fight in your eyes.
To be or bring light for someone else doesn’t mean fixing their darkness. It's a choice to stay present, supportive, and accepting of who they are, even against the reflection of their least desirable characteristics.
When someone you care about is moving through grief, loss, or exhaustion, grand gestures rarely reach the depths we hope they will. What matters more is a steady glow. A hand that doesn’t pull, a voice that doesn’t rush, a presence that says you’re not alone in this, even when there are no answers to offer.
Light is patience. It’s listening without trying to resolve. It’s reminding someone, sometimes simply by showing up, that their spark hasn’t gone out; even if they struggle to recognize it at times. When everything feels like it's closing in around you; one small, consistent flame can mean more than the whole of a brightened sky.
You don’t have to chase the darkness away. You don’t have to lift the entire night. All that’s required is the willingness to stay lit long enough for someone else to adjust their eyes. To remember that the fight hasn’t left them, and they are still worthy of being seen.
If your light feels small right now, that's probably a good thing. Small lights are the ones people carry with them.
